Does anyone have any idea what the general guidelines are for carrying a mental health diagnosis for life insurance? I was automatically denied just by having a bipolar diagnosis which is bipolar 2, not even bipolar 1. I’ve been stable in treatment for many, many years. No hospitalizations, no attempts to take my life, no impact on work (I’m actually a licensed mental health professional myself). I’m managed very very well and have learned in time it’s best to ask for help when needed that way something worse doesn’t happen. I’m upset and frustrated I got automatically denied by an underwriter who apparently works with 5 companies and the notes they submitted to the company are what denied me. I know we are living in 2024 and as a mental health professional I know there are so many people with technical mental health diagnoses even such as anxiety or depression. So what is someone to do if they carry a diagnosis? Never ever qualify for any life insurance? I just got married last month. This feels wild to me and I feel helpless and hopeless
