Hello insurance peeps! Just passed my life insurance exam for the state of Massachusetts. Figured since I couldn’t find any information about this at all prior to my test, I’d give my thoughts to the internet. Coming off the SIE, Series 7, series 66 then life insurance test.. in that order. This is to sell variable products, annuities and life insurance. 1651 is the code on prometric.

I’d say this was in line with the SIE level of difficulty, maybe easier if you go this route as you’re exposed to many chapters on insurance before you get here. I’d recommend Kaplan to prepare. I watched each video sequentially, before the chapter.

Then once finished reading and videos, I hammered out 10 questions of each of the units, then 10-20 questions of what I’d call the bulk of the test. You can find the test content review on prometric, but Kaplan’s qbank would align with chapters 3-7. It’s over half the weight of the test so spend your time here regardless of using Kaplan. I did like 500 questions and the mastery test – make sure to the questions with the corrections on and you basically learn as you go. Then I rewatched all of the videos 3-7, and some if I needed a refresher for them.

I’d say it took me in all 2.5 weeks with 3 hours a day to finish and comprehend/remember the content, do the reading + questions + videos

Test is 105 questions and you get 2 hours. The actual questions have the classic traps and what you’d expect on a professionally written exam, don’t fall for the crap and read the full question twice, and MUST read the full answer set. Just read every damn word.

I’d say if you do all of the above you’re almost guaranteed to pass, just put the time in.

Hope this helps Reddit friends.

Best of luck with your testing, and hoping you pass this Massachusetts life exam first try!
