Marvin Lynn Lowe Obituary – The Gadsden Times – Gadsden Times
Mr. Marvin Lynn Lowe, age 74, from Gadsden, Alabama, passed away on February 16, 2022. Lynn was born on December 30, 1947, and was the only child of the late Leonard M. (Tip) and Frances Lowe of Bruceton, TN.
Mr. Lowe retired from Life Insurance Company of Alabama as the Executive Vice President/Treasurer in December 2020 after 45 years. He began his insurance career in 1975 as a Credit Life Representative until 1982 when he became Senior Vice President and Director of Credit Life Sales. In 1992 he assumed the title of Executive Vice President/Treasurer. Prior to joining Life Insurance Company of Alabama, he was a Sales Representative for Moore Business Forms, Inc. Mr. Lowe is a graduate of Paducah Tillman High School, Paducah, Kentucky, Class of 1965. He completed his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky in 1969. From September 1969 until May 1971, he was on active duty with the United States Army in the United States and Germany. Upon completion of his military duty, he pursued a Masters of Business Administration from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky.
He was a Past President of the National Alliance of Life Companies (NALC), Secretary/Treasurer and Director of the Alabama Association of Life Insurance Companies (AALIC), and a member of the Alabama Insurance Planning Commission (AIPC). As an avid golfer, he was a director of the Alabama Golf Association and he especially enjoyed working with the junior golfers and golf tournaments in the state of Alabama. He served for three terms on the Vestry of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter in Gadsden, Alabama, with one year each as Junior and Senior Warden. He was a member and past Captain of the Gadsden Quarterback Club and the past President of the Board of Governors of the Gadsden Country Club.
Mr. Lowe is survived by his wife, Alburta Daugette Lowe; his daughter, Dr. Mary Kinney Lowe Corley and her husband, Dr. Jarrett Corley of Birmingham, AL; granddaughters, Mary Clare and Frances Martin Corley; brother-in-law, Clarence Daugette; sister-in-law, Anne Daugette (Ray) Renfrow, his nieces, Clare Renfrow and Alie (Michael) Causey; his great nephew, Ren Causey; and many cousins and friends.
His family expresses their sincere gratitude to those who cared so kindly for Lynn at Memory Care/Brookdale Columbus, Dr. Debora Reiland, Encompass Hospice, and Bill Lester with Gadsden Health & Rehab.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. A private service will be held at the family’s request. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter in Gadsden (156 S 9th Street, Gadsden, AL 35901) or Founders Place at Saint Lukes Episcopal Church in Birmingham. Founders Place is a respite ministry for adults with memory loss (3736 Montrose Road, Birmingham, AL 35213).
