Looking for Advice on High-Risk Life Insurance Options in Illinois
Hi everyone,
My wife and I are in our mid-to-late 30s and are actively looking for life insurance. Unfortunately, we were declined for additional coverage through my work's group policy due to some health factors, so I’m hoping to find a broker who specializes in helping high-risk individuals like us.
Here’s some background:
We’re both considered overweight with BMIs over 40.
I take medication for depression, but it’s well-managed, and I’ve never had any major mental health issues. My overall health is good, great bloodwork, normal blood pressure, etc.
My wife has bipolar disorder, but she’s very stable and has been for years. Also great bloodwork no other issues.
We’ve both started losing weight and are making consistent progress toward improving our health. Our goal is to get as much coverage as we can now based on what we qualify for and can afford, with the option to revisit and secure better rates in the future as our health improves.
I’m based in Illinois and am hoping for referrals to brokers who have experience working with high-risk clients. I see mentions of such brokers online, but I’d like to hear from people who’ve worked with someone they recommend before I start reaching out and sharing my information widely.
Do we stand a chance at getting a term policy in our current situation? Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
