Loan or Withdrawl Against Life Insurance Policy

Hopefully someone can give me some answers here. I've exhausted every possible financial option avaiable to me at this point to get out of a big pot hole I'm stuck in. Won't bore anyone with the backend details, life is getting a little better, but have some questions I need answered. I've been contributing to a life insurance policy for the company I'm with for the last 10 years. I'm just now discovering that I may be able to take a loan or withdrawl against the policy but I'm not sure how.

My current employer limits viewing any current asset information directly from the providers portal and I may have to call. The questions are simple though and I would like to make sure I have my ducks in a row before looking desperate, stupid or down right dumb. Can I call and simply ask questions such as, how much do I currently have vested in this account and can a take a loan or withdrawl against my policy?

Before anyone may ask…yes, I have a 401k as well but I am unable to take any withdrawls or loans at this time.

Thanks for any input or advice!
