Hello! I am currently in the process of getting life insurance for me and my husband. My husband is a veteran who already has a life insurance through the VA with me and our two kids as beneficiaries. I have a policy through work and same but we wanted something extra and were looking around. My question now is my husband has a son from a previous relationship, the mom has never allowed a dna test to be done to establish paternity and she usually goes back to her country or jumps from state to state so he will not know about the kid. She only contacts my husband when she needs money, now anyone would say then is not his or not to worry but the kid is a spit image of my husband so I know is his. If anything was to happen to my husband and we are the beneficiaries of his life insurance, does she has any way of getting part of it? And no, I’m not against his other son getting part of the money. My fear is her not using the money on the kid considering there’s a long history of this happening with the “child support” money. Also the life insurances we’re shopping around for is having specific use of that money so if she was to have a right over the money then I would like to have a bigger amount since it would go to 4 ppl and not 3. Thank you
