Grandma adopted my sister and I when we were tots. She has two living children. (I was her sole caregiver for 8 years until the moment she died.) So legally speaking, she had 4 kids at the time of her passing.

I am working on tying up loose ends, to include paperwork for her modest life insurance policy. When my sister and I wrote the obituary, we listed ourselves as grandkids – because biologically we are, and we thought it was weird to be listed as kids alongside our bio father.

With that said, does anyone know if this might present a problem with the life insurance claims folks? I have the death certificate and am completing paperwork, but am I going to have to jump through hoops because we are listed as grandkids in the obit? I don't even know if insurance will look at her obituary, but I am already emotionally exhausted thinking about having to clarify it all. Any insight as to what to expect is so helpful. Just trying to mentally prep myself.

I miss my maw maw. She was the best. 🥺
