I recently received a quote from SBLI for a 20-year term life insurance policy with a $1 million coverage limit. The premium would be approximately $159 per month.

I'm 39 years old, a non-smoker, and exercise regularly. I have no health issues aside from polio, which I had in early childhood and which affects my mobility. My financial situation includes a 401(k) and an IRA. I'm married with no children yet, but we are planning to have kids in the near future.

This offer was provided after my medical exam, and I was given a Table B rating (substandard +50%). The sales associate I spoke with mentioned that SBLI is known for fair underwriting and that this is still a strong offer. He also suggested that I’m unlikely to receive a better offer from other insurers.

I understand the importance of having life insurance and that some coverage is better than none. However, I’d appreciate any insights on whether this is truly the best offer I can get or if it’s worth exploring other options before committing.

Thanks in advance for your input!
