What You Need to Know

Most travel medical insurance policies for visitors to the United States exclude coverage for pre-existing conditions.
In addition to covering pre-existing conditions, a new policy from IMG will give visitors access to a big, well-known provider network.

IMG has a solution for clients trying to bring friends or relatives with health problems into the United States for a visit: travel medical insurance designed for people with pre-existing conditions.

The Santa Clara, California-based company last week introduced the USVisit-Pro policy, which can provide up to $250,000 in coverage for ordinary conditions for people under 70, and $30,000 in coverage for pre-existing conditions.

For people ages 70 through 74, the policy can provide up to $50,000 in ordinary coverage and $20,000 in coverage for pre-existing conditions.

Most travel medical insurance policies exclude coverage for pre-existing conditions altogether.

What It Means

People under age 75 who live outside the United States might have an easier time visiting your clients.

The policy is aimed at people visiting the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas or U.S. territories from countries outside North America.
