I’m interested in switching careers to get out of the manufacturing environment. Particularly interested in LI. What’s it been like for you since you changed over?

I’ve worked manufacturing/production jobs for about 10 years now. I’m 30 and while I’m still pretty physically fit, I think it’s just time to get out of the industry. My work ethic is being taken advantage of and I’m not being properly compensated for what I do. (Probably 85% of Us.) It’s a grind everyday and management does not want my help no matter how hard I try. It’s obvious I’m not appreciated and it’s time to go.

I came across life insurance and was interested in it because they can make some nice income and residual as well. I don’t have my license, but can easily study and take it myself. I’m curious about the people who have switched industries into life insurance and how has it been for you so far? Have you loved it and never looked back? What would be the best route for someone like me to take? What were the hardest challenges for you to overcome as a beginner in the industry? Sorry if I’m asking so many questions. It seems like a fantastic career (to me anyways) and I keep coming back to the thought of it. So maybe I should pursue it.

I’m kinda scared to make the change, naturally, but I just can’t stay at my job anymore. Even the most basic life insurance agents start out at 45-50k from what I’ve read which is already 5-10k more than what I make working at a Mint right now.
