Getting a broker off my policy account …?

hi all, This may sound like a strange question. But it's giving me a lot of anxiety. A while ago I obtained life insurance through an agent/broker. They are tied to that company in some way but I think are actually independent and work with several. I am super grateful for him to have helped me arrange this, this was a long and not very simple process and I could not have done it without him. However. I am a reasonably well educated adult and would like to now manage the policy by myself, Vis a Vis the insurance company directly. Yet when I log in to my online account that person is listed on there as "my finance professional". When I asked him how to change a draft date, he said "I can do it for you" instead of saying "click such and such on your online account". I want to control the policy myself and I am a bit taken aback that some lasting authority appears to exist for him to make or manage changes. I do not want that to be the case, but am a little embarrassed to ask. Can I just take them off in my online account? Do I have to call some call center to ask them to do it? Surely I do not have to have a nanny. I am middle aged and have degrees in law and businesses. Thanks in advance for your insights.
