Genetic testing and life insurance

I am undergoing genetic testing for a condition that was noted incidentally on a blood result (I have no symptoms). I have not yet received the result of the genetic test. I am planning to apply for an income protection policy and one of the questions is whether I have undergone or whether I am awaiting the result of a genetic test. I would prefer to undergo underwriting without the result of my genetic test being considered.

Ideally I would have applied for the policy and then had the genetic test after. Is it too late for this? Can I cancel the test (the sample has been taken but I don't know if it's been analysed yet) and then just respond no to that question, and then arrange the test again after? Or will they just assess my application based on the existing information without the genetic test result. I am in Australia taking out a group income protection policy through superannuation.
