Hello Everyone!

The time has come! No, we’re not talking about the next episode of your favourite TV show. It’s Diabetes Awareness Week from the 12th to the 18th of June! Yes, it’s that time of the year when we roll up our sleeves and tackle one of the biggest health issues around – Diabetes. This campaign is masterminded by the good folks at Diabetes UK and we’re here to join in, and we hope you will too!

Now, let’s Talk Diabetes: If Diabetes were a guest at a party, it would be the one that overstays its welcome. It’s that persistent condition where the body gets confused about how to manage blood sugar, our main energy source from the food we eat. There are two main types, Type 1 and Type 2. Despite all the advances in medical science, this “party crasher” still affects 1 in 11 adults worldwide, according to the International Diabetes Federation. We know, that’s a lot of unwanted guests, right?

Education, Your Superpower: When it comes to dealing with Diabetes, knowledge is your cape and education your superpower! Understanding the symptoms, treatments, and preventive measures is like having a “cheat code” in the game of health. This Diabetes Week, we’re rallying everyone to get this “cheat code”. And, guess what? The Diabetes UK website is your treasure chest, chock-full of resources, advice, research updates, and tips on how to manage diabetes; https://www.diabetes.org.uk/diabetes-week

Do Something Super: Now that you have your superpower, it’s time to use it! This Diabetes Week, let’s take our knowledge to the streets (or at least, to the social media feeds). Share a post, talk to friends and family, or get involved in community activities. If you’re feeling particularly superhero-like, consider supporting the extraordinary work of organizations like Diabetes UK with a donation.

To Sum It Up: Diabetes Week is more than just another event on the calendar. It’s a chance to laugh in the face of adversity, to come together, and to change the game. We can all be heroes in the narrative around Diabetes, and with education and awareness, support those living with the condition. This Diabetes Awareness Week, let’s make Diabetes the party guest that realizes it’s overstayed its welcome.

Let’s kick-start Diabetes Week 2023 together – because in this health journey, no one should feel like they’re going it alone. Let’s turn this week into a party of awareness, learning, and most importantly, hope!

Though we can’t cure Diabetes, we like to think we’re able to help out some of the community by looking to secure Life Insurance, if you’ve struggled, or pay huge premiums, get in touch with one of the team to see if we can help.
