Delaware Life's Parent Hires a Marketing Chief: Personnel Moves

Group 1001 — the Indianapolis-based parent of Delaware Life, Guggenheim Life and other annuity issuers — has hired Bill Shelton to be chief marketing officer.

Shelton previously was the co-CEO of Evolution of Sports and of that organization’s Parity unit. Evolution of Sports works to help top female athletes arrange for the same kinds of sponsorship deals and other deals that go to male athletes.

Shelton started out as a track and field star at Texas A&M. He served for five years on the board of USA Track and Field.

He also has worked as a structured products team executive at J.P. Morgan, a managing director at Goldman Sachs and a managing director at Deutsche Bank. At Deutsche Bank, he managed the institutional equity derivative business, which served insurers, pension plans and other large clients.

He has a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M and a master’s degree in business from the University of Virginia.

Bestow Life

Bestow Life, a Dallas-based life insurance web broker, has hired Jeremy Bill to be its chief insurance officer.

Bill had been working for Sammons Financial since 2000. when he left Sammons, he was the company’s vice president for financial management and digital distribution.

Bestow has started out by distribution products written by Munich Re and Sammons’ North American Company for Life and Health Insurance unit.

Bill has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Sioux Falls. He is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Nationwide

Nationwide has named Rona Guymon to lead annuity distribution.

Guymon succeeds Craig Hawley, who is now the leader of the Columbus, Ohio-based company’s Retirement Solutions Distribution team.

Guymon previously was the leader of Nationwide’s brokerage annuity distribution unit.

Before she joined Nationwide, in 2020, she spent 13 years at Protective Life. She also has worked for ING and for ND&MG, a brokerage general agency.

She has a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt, and she holds the Certified Retirement Counselor designation.

Sun Life U.S.

Sun Life U.S. — a Wellesley, Massachusetts-based arm of Sun Life Financial — has hired Irlande Audenier to be vice president for group and voluntary claims. She also will work on Sun Life’s integrated absence, disability and supplemental health programs.

Audenier previously was an assistant vice president for claims at The Hartford. She also has worked for Aetna and for AONHewitt.

She has a bachelor’s degree in health care services and a master’s degree in business from the University of Phoenix. She serves on the executive committee for the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County.
