Can’t continue paying for premium
Hello. First of all, please don’t judge as I just really need some initial help. I plan to contact my advisor and agent but I figured I’d try and see what people here would say.
I do have a life insurance policy with NLG, and I’m paying a bit less than $200 per month for 575k death benefit. So I’m aware at some point I’ll have some amount of surrender value, but right now it is still $0. The surrender value starts accumulating couple years from now and of course it would not be closer or near the total of what I’ve paid in premiums so far.
Up to date, I have already paid a bit more than $7k of premium. I started actually with 250-280 per month but last year I talked to my advisor since I’ve been struggling financially and we worked it to go down to approx 200. But now, I really don’t think I can keep up with that. I have loans to pay, I do have a good 401k, life insurance from employer, etc.
What are my options here? My thoughts are just try get it lower again but will compromise the benefit, or surrender but I will get nothing unfortunately (that $7k loss is painful though). Is there anything else I can do? Any thoughts?
