Which Automaker Do You Think Is The Next One To Go Bankrupt?

It wasn’t too long ago that some people seriously believed that legacy automakers’ time was limited and that it was only a matter of time before Tesla and its electric cars would drive them out of business. It was a laughable idea on its face, but that didn’t stop people from repeating it. And yet, somehow, against all odds (hah!), Toyota, Ford and most others appear to be doing just fine. Even General Motors, which has had all sorts of problems with its EVs, isn’t exactly facing bankruptcy anytime soon.

Fisker, on the other hand, isn’t looking as healthy. It’s already admitted that it doesn’t have enough money to survive for another year and needs a pretty significant investment if it’s going to stay in business. So does that mean Fisker is yet again headed for bankruptcy? Not necessarily. Nothing is official yet, but it appears that Nissan is willing to bail Fisker out in exchange for access to the platform Fisker uses for the Alaska electric pickup truck.
It’s still possible that Fisker’s issues are so serious that even a few hundred million dollars won’t buy enough time for it to get its financial house in order, but if Nissan’s getting involved, it’ll probably at least stick around for a while. That raises the question, though, of what automaker will be the next to go bankrupt. Could it be a legacy brand like Jaguar, or will the Tata money keep flowing long enough for the British automaker to survive? Or will it be one of the many electric startups trying to make a name for themselves among the legacy automakers like Lucid?
You would think the easy money would be on Faraday Future since it’s been circling the drain for years, and yet, somehow, it’s still around and even managed to deliver at least one vehicle to a customer. So what do you think? Which automaker is the next to go belly up? Let us know down in the comments.
