Despite its shortcomings, motorsport is pretty great, really. For a few hours a weekend you can forget all your responsibilities and watch the fastest cars navigate some perilously tricky tracks in exotic locations on almost every continent. And whether you’re in it for the on-track action or off-track drama of a race, there’s one thing we can all agree on: some race cars are really pretty.

Maybe it’s the incredibly detailed aerodynamics of a 2019 F1 car or the smooth lines of a 90s endurance racer that makes them look so great, but there have been some incredibly pretty cars produced over motorsport’s 130-year-history. So today, we want to know which you would say is the prettiest?
So, what have you got? It might be that you’re a simple car fan, who’s a sucker for the Lotus 78 and its slick engineering and iconic black and gold livery. Or perhaps you prefer your race cars with a few more American regulations checked off, so would prefer to pick something like the Sunoco Mclaren that raced in Indycar back in 1972.
Personally, I think the Jordan 191 that Michael Schumacher raced around Spa in 1991 is a pretty stunning car thanks to its slick looking aero package and cool-as-a-cucumber green and blue livery. It’s a classic! I’d also throw an honorable mention to the Bentley Speed 8, a Le Mans prototype racer that won the famed French race in 2003.
But what would you pick? We’d love to hear your suggestions for the prettiest race cars of all time, so head to the comments section below to let us know. We’ll round up some of the best responses in a slideshow next week.
