What’s The Most Underrated Car of the 1990s?

The ’90s was a wonderful time filled with Britpop, “Friends” and the birth of roughly half of the Jalopnik staff. Do you know what it also had in bucket loads? Awesome cars. And while machines like the Acura NSX and McLaren F1 may hog the limelight, we bet there are some monsters from the 90s that have slipped under the radar.
The Future of Acura’s Supercar Factory
That’s exactly what we want to uncover today, the ’90s cars that should have gone down as the decade’s best, but instead were forgotten and misremembered. So, what car do you think is the most underrated machine of the 1990s?
Maybe you like the cars BMW was slinging in the ’90s, but don’t think they rank as highly in the brand’s history as they deserve. Or, perhaps, you’re drawn to the stylings of the Porsche 968 and think it holds up better today than some of its counterparts might.
Personally, I think there’s one car we’ve all quietly forgotten about from the ’90s, and that’s the Ford Racing Puma. This pocket rocket combines excellent styling with a Yamaha-tuned engine to create a real gem.
Sure it snuck in right at the end of the decade with its 1999 launch, but this car and its 150 horsepower, 1.7-liter motor is surely worth considering here? And with just 500 of the Racing Pumas produced, it’s easy to see how they could slip under the radar.
But that’s just my suggestion, what creation do you think could be the most under appreciated car of the 1990s? Head to the comment section below to let us know your pick and we’ll round up some of the best responses in a slideshow later this week.
