We get some cool cars here in the U.S., but we always want what we can’t have. Whether it’s a car you drooled over on an old episode of “Top Gear,” or one you read about in imported JDM magazines, once it turns 25-years-old it becomes eligible to import.

I Want To Go Electric | What Car Should You Buy?

So what car are you not-so-patiently waiting to turn 25? Whether you plan to import it or not, you’re allowed to dream. I certainly am not going to be importing anything anytime soon, but as a weirdo who likes weird cars I think my soul would simply leave my body if I saw an Audi A2 on American roads.

America buys big, powerful cars with lots of cupholders. While many car companies have learned that and produced models to cater to the unique desires of Americans, there are plenty of cars that we never got because they didn’t suit American tastes.

The Audi A2 is a perfect example of this– the A2 was designed to be a tiny, chic, lightweight, and hyper-efficient runabout for the narrow streets of European cities. It likely wouldn’t have been a sales success if Audi sold it in the U.S. from its year 2000 inception, but soon the dedicated lovers of eccentric Euro cars will be able to import them so us yankees can get a taste of the A2 allure.
