It’s first-quarter sales report time for automakers, which means I get to dig through spreadsheets to find weird little anomalies and dead cars. Some vehicles are on the chopping block, some have been dead for a model year, and some are really dead. So much so that they’re decomposing right before us. I’ve found one of those vehicles.

Folks, in the first quarter of 2024, 37 people took their hard-earned American money, walked into an Infiniti dealership and walked out with a brand new 2022 (!!!) Q60. That’s right, Infiniti managed to sell 37 brand-new cars that are at least two years old. I say at least because I’m just assuming they were 2022 models, but who really knows?

Those 37 Q60s represent just 0.3 percent of the total vehicles Infiniti moved in the first three months of 2024. It’s honestly a really impressive feat. All I can say is that I really hope whoever those people are, they got a crazy good deal.

If you’re like me, and you forgot what the Infiniti Q60 is, let’s try to remember together. It was basically Infiniti’s version of the Nissan 370Z, but it had a couple of extra seats, more leather and different engines. You could either get a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4, or step up to the Red Line with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6.

That motor, albeit tuned, has made its way into the current Nissan Z (which only sold 671 units in the quarter). It was a handsome enough coupe that shared a lot with the Q50 sedan – something that is somehow still on sale. Infiniti built the things from 2016 to 2022, and they served as a replacement to the far more iconic G35 and G37 coupes.

I don’t know who you 37 people are, but it’s very likely you bought one of the oldest new cars on the market. I commend you, because you’ve gotta be a little weird to do something like this. Kudos to you, you 37 newly minted Q60 owners. I hope they treat you well.
