After several delays, the Cybertruck is supposed to start production later this year.
Elon Musk has slowly dripped out details about the electric pickup truck since the reveal in 2019.
The Cybertruck will have to compete against the likes of the F-150 Lightning, Hummer EV, and Silverado EV.

Drone footage uploaded to YouTube this week shows the Tesla Cybertruck running a test of the vehicle’s suspension on a track at the company’s assembly plant in Fremont, California.

The six-minute video shows the Cybertruck driving up and down a test course with different textures and bumps to test how the massive pickup truck would handle such obstacles in the real world. This type of testing is typical for pre-production models and is the latest sign that Tesla is getting closer to releasing the truck it first introduced in 2019.

In the years since the Cybertruck reveal, Elon Musk has slowly dripped out details on the truck. He has previously claimed that the Cybertruck will be able to “serve briefly as a boat,” and feature rear-wheel steering (the latter doesn’t appear to be on the Cybertruck in the video).

After years of delays, Musk told investors in February that the Cybertruck would finally start production this year. 

Once the Cybertruck does go on sale, it will be entering an increasingly crowded electric pickup truck market. 

The electric Ford F-150 Lightning went on sale last year, while GM is slowly starting to deliver its massive Hummer EVs. GM is also planning to release an all-electric version of its popular Chevrolet Silverado truck this fall, while Ram’s upcoming electric pickup truck is featured at the New York Auto Show this week.
