Watch The Terrifying Jeep Death Wobble Up Close

Jeep owners know and fear the mythic Death Wobble — a shaking, jittering sensation in the front wheels that’s plagued seven-slat vehicles across time. Drivers fear it, engineers hate it, and Stellantis has had to settle suits based on the problem’s prevalence within the Jeep brand.

2024 Jeep Wrangler First Drive Review

We’ve seen video of the wobble before, showing just how aggressive it can be, but Rocky Top Customz brings us a new angle: Shots from beneath the Jeep’s body, showing just how shaky things are.

Rocky Top Customz posted the clip to Instagram and YouTube, demonstrating the terror of the Death Wobble for all to see. Eagle-eyed viewers, however, may notice that there’s some uneven wear shown on this particular Jeep’s suspension — much of it has the sort of surface grime you’d expect from a daily driver, yet the springs are oddly clean.

That’s because, as Rocky Top Customz explained on Instagram, this is no stock Gladiator. It’s been lifted by four inches, which the shop appears to blame for the truck’s rough handling. The addition of parts to correct the steering geometry, namely an aftermarket drag link and track bar relocation kit, apparently cleared the issue up.

While this particular Jeep has been remedied, the Death Wobble still haunts Jeep owners. Luckily, as Rocky Top Customz has shown, there’s a reliable solution: Lift your Jeep four inches, then apply these specific aftermarket suspension parts. Surely lifting the truck four inches will not cause you any other problems, particularly if it’s just a mall crawler you bought to get some wind in your hair. A lift kit will solve all your issues.
