W.R. Berkley website overhaul improves navigation

W.R. Berkley’s new website will make information about the company’s more than 50 different insurance businesses easier to find and access, says Jonathan Levine, vice president and chief marketing officer.

“Commercial P&C carriers can often be hard to navigate,” he says. “The new corporate website helps current and prospective insurers, and customers learn about Berkley and our insurance businesses and how to find the appropriate product.”

W.R. Berkley’s revamped website, showing the home page at top and how to access the company’s various business with the menu on the page, at bottom.

The way information is presented on the new site is designed to help insurance distributors and business owners seeking coverage find the right carrier and product under the W.R. Berkley umbrella, according to Levine. The site now has “Product” and “Industry” pages to make its organization clearer.

While the updated website does not provide insurance quotes or sign up policyholders, it can provide information about coverage. The information is searchable, using its “Find A Berkley Business” locator, so distributors and prospective policyholders can look for brokers based on geography, types of policies or the industries they cover, according to Levine. Those searches will provide contact details for representatives from the appropriate carriers.

In effect, the updates are meant for insurance agents and brokers, but it is the first time W.R. Berkley’s website has information for policyholders themselves, says Levine. “It explores industries and products from a policyholder perspective and what are the typical coverages you need for a specific industry.”

For W.R. Berkley, the site also solves an issue with brokers and customers finding companies under its umbrella that didn’t have their parent company in their name by making that connection clear to users. The site’s home page will also showcase specific Berkley businesses and news about the overall Berkley insurance enterprise.
