The 2022 Lucid Air Grand Touring is an example of when cutting-edge technology and sensible automotive engineering combine, and the result is spectacular.

The Grand Touring and the Grand Touring Performance models sit at the top of the Lucid Air lineup, with prices starting at $140,500 for the former and $180,500 for the latter.
That’s a significant outlay of cash, but both deliver impressively powerful electric motors and unbeatable estimated driving ranges.
The Grand Touring model makes a combined 819 horsepower from its two electric motors, and its 112.0-kWh battery is capable of up to 516 miles of driving, per the EPA.
The more expensive Grand Touring Performance turns up the heat with up to 1050 horsepower, but despite a slightly larger 118.0-kWh battery pack, this model’s EPA driving range is reduced to 446 miles.
Acceleration is astoundingly quick, with the Grand Touring reaching 60 mph in 3.0 seconds flat. Lucid estimates 2.6 seconds for the Grand Touring Performance.
Road manners aren’t as sharp as a Porsche Taycan’s, but the Air is still entertaining on a twisty road while offering a refined ride.
Plenty of thought went into the Air’s design, and these Grand Touring models are finished in premium materials and offer plenty of cabin space.
The infotainment software is still undergoing some development, with new features and refinements being pushed out via over-the-air updates.
The Air’s glass canopy roof provides occupants a nearly uninterrupted view from the road to the sky, but in practice it can create glare on the display screens and allows the sun to roast the cabin.
Despite a few flaws, the Lucid Air Grand Touring and Grand Touring Performance models are remarkable pieces of automotive engineering and design.
