The current Lexus GX460 is a familiar sight, having been in its current configuration since 2010. The grille has gotten bigger, though.
The mid-size GX460 shares its platform with the Toyota 4Runner, but the Lexus gets its own sheetmetal, engine, and interior.
The GX460 comes standard with four-wheel drive, and the system includes a two-speed transfer case for enhanced off-road capability. Ground clearance stands at 8.1 inches, and running boards make it easier to climb in.
Unlike the 4Runner, which gets a traditional liftgate, the GX460 has a side-hinged rear cargo door.
The GX460 comes exclusively with a 4.6-liter V-8, which is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and makes 301 horsepower and 329 pound-feet of torque.
Despite the V-8 engine, the GX460 needs 7.2 seconds to reach 60 mph, putting it behind several competitors.
Fuel economy is disappointing at just 15 mpg city and 19 mpg highway, according to the EPA.
The GX460’s interior is plush and well finished. A third-row seat is standard, but legroom is tight.
The GX460’s cargo hold is not as roomy as most competitors.
GX460 base prices range from $56,700 to $66,210.
