The 2024 Low Plate Lottery Has Begun!
The annual RMV Low Plate looter is now live and accepting applications.
Why does Agency Checklists remind our readers about the annual low-plate lottery? We love this annual summer contest because it is such an easy and economical way to reach out to your insureds across the Commonwealth each year and to help them get a great prize.
Unlike past years when the application deadline ran to the end of August, it is important to note that this year’s entrants will have two weeks less to submit nominations, with the deadline being 5 p.m. on August 16, 2024.
A few rules and requirements to remind you of…
All applicants should be aware that while there is no fee to enter the contest, any or all winners are required to pay a special plate fee in addition to the standard registration fee for the plate. Applicants must also be a Massachusetts resident with an active, registered, and insured passenger vehicles. No companies or corporations can apply. Neither can any MassDOT employees or family members.
It also is important to note that requests for specific plate numbers will not be honored. The RMV says it will notify all winners by mail, who will have until Friday, December 31, 2024, to swap their plates.
Plates will only be registered to the winning applicant and remain the property of the RMV, even after registration. Unclaimed plates will be forfeited and awarded to one of the 25 alternate winners selected during the drawing in September.

Only online entries will be accepted this year. Paper submissions are no longer accepted.
The deadline to enter the lottery is by 5:00 PM, Friday, August 16, 2024.
More plates available this year
This year there are a total of 298 low-number license plates are available for this year’s drawing, a much larger selection than the 191 available last year. In what has become a summer tradition, Agency Checklists is providing a list of all of the available numbers for this year below:
