Cadillac’s 5.5-liter V8-powered hybrid LMDh race car made its debut just over a year ago at the 2023 running of the 24 Hours of Daytona. While Acura won that day, Cadillac wasn’t far behind with a car on the podium, and by the end of the season, the Whelen Engineering Racing car had enough points to take the IMSA championship. At the more famous 24 Hour race, Le Mans, Cadillac also scored a podium. It once again failed to win the Daytona race last month, but it’s got its sights set on a Le Mans overall victory come June.

What Car Should You Buy: Fast, Impractical and Fun

In order to make it happen, Cadillac is bringing a trio of racers to La Sarthe once again. As the World Endurance Championship season is about to kick off in Qatar on March 2, Cadillac is preparing itself for an all-out global assault on the competition. The keen eyes of 19Bozzy92 on YouTube are back with ten glorious minutes of Cadillac racer sights and sounds.

10 minutes of pure Cadillac V-Series.R LMDh sounds in action at Imola Circuit!

I could probably just put this on a loop and blast it from my home audio system for the rest of time. That big V8 grunt sounds fantastic, and when paired with the Doppler effect of a really fucking fast car, it can’t be beat. You need a little pick-me-up to get through this hump day, so why don’t you sit back, crank it up, and watch ten minutes of a Cadillac flying around Imola.

Once again Cadillac will have its work cut out for it at Le Mans, however, as the top “Hypercar” class is jam-packed with competitive machines. This is the biggest top-class the race has seen since 1997, with 23 cars on the roster. Three from Cadillac, we already know. Ferrari also has a trio. A pair of cars will be entered by Peugeot, Toyota, BMW, Lamborghini, and Alpine. A single car will join the grid from Isotta Fraschini. Porsche, meanwhile, has a whopping six cars on the entry list, and if anyone fails to turn up, the German manufacturer has a seventh waiting in the wings on the reserve list.

It seems Porsche’s strategy is purely strength in numbers. Cadillac is betting on the strength of American V8 power, baby!
