See How the 2022 Toyota Tundra Powers This Group’s Hike

When you’re headed out for a day on the trails, few things are as important as the company you keep. That’s what Latinxhikers—a grassroots initiative dedicated to breaking down barriers and making LatinX communities and disinvested communities feel comfortable outdoors—will tell you.

Since its inception five years ago, the group—led by Luz Lituma and Adriana Garcia—has helped like-minded community members find their passion and place outside. This time, they’re doing so with the help of the 2022 Toyota Tundra.

Comfortably seated in the Tundra’s roomy cabin, the crew headed out to the Southern California wilderness. The expansive center console—hidden away during the drive—held snacks and water, key for fueling up. Features like the available Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system, which provides a variety of views from the Tundra’s 360-degree cameras, helped the hikers scan their surroundings for potential obstacles. They were ultimately able to find the perfect stater trail, which Garcia notes is important for new members.

“We’re really focused on beginner trails,” she says, “making sure they’re under a certain amount of mileage and elevation gain—so when people do come out [to our events] they’re able to have a good time. It’s not like, ‘Oh my God, that was so hard. I can’t do that again.’”

Post-hike, the group celebrated their accomplishment using the Tundra’s tailgate release bump switch, giving them a perfect place to rest. Check out the video above to learn more about Latinxhikers’ mission and see the 2022 Toyota Tundra in action.
