Pagani Utopia Roadster Is One Of The Few Convertibles You Can Get With A Manual Transmission

Following the success of the Zonda and Huayra, Pagani announced its third car — the Utopia — in 2022. It has a twin-turbocharged V12 that makes 864 horsepower and 811 lb-ft of torque, as well as an optional seven-speed dogleg manual transmission. That car was a coupe, though, so what is the Pagani-loving billionaire to do if they want to feel the wind in their hair while zipping along in their limited-production supercar? As it turns out, the answer was to just wait until Pagani introduced the Utopia Roadster.
The Pagani Zonda Is a Supercar Classic We’ll Always Love
Pagani says it plans to only build 130 Utopia Roadsters, and they will each start at €3.1 (or about $3.35 million at current exchange rates.) So good luck ever getting to see, much less drive one. And while the car itself is plenty impressive, we also want to point out that it is one of the few cars available today that still pairs a convertible roof with a manual transmission. Ferrari’s got nothing. Lamborghini’s got nothing. Bugatti’s got nothing. Although, there’s still the Mazda Miata, Ford Mustang and a handful of Porsches. In a sense, you could argue the Miata is just a poor person’s Utopia Roadster.
That’s not the only thing the Utopia Roadster has in common with the Miata, either. It’s also light–way lighter than you’d expect from a modern V12 convertible. Coming in at 2,822 pounds, the Miata’s still got the Utopia by a few hundred pounds, but we’re willing to forgive that for a manual and a V12. Notably, the Utopia Roadster also weighs exactly the same as the coupe, a fact that Pagani sounds very proud of. And you know what? It should be. That’s some incredibly impressive engineering.
Presumably, every single example has already been spoken for, but that doesn’t. mean we can’t spend a little time looking at pretty pictures, though, right?
