Nissan wants in on the off-road trend for its new Frontier, but than go to NISMO as it typically would, Nissan is actually taking a page from a recent racing success. It has announced a brand new off-road edition for the Frontier called Nissan Frontier Forsberg Edition, inspired by its NORRA 500 win.

The centerpiece of the Forsberg Edition is an off-road package that’s dealer installed. The package was born after Nissan’s recent collaboration with Forsberg Racing that won it a 2023 NORRA 500 win in the stock production class category. Thanks to its tried and true racing roots, that means this package isn’t just an appearance package, either. It actually has the off-road chops to back up its beefy appearance.

The package can be applied to any new or used (2022 at the latest) Frontier. You get NISMO off-road suspension with high performance shocks and forged upper control arms, 17-inch Axis Beadlock wheels, a roof rack with integrated lighting, rock sliders, 265/70R17 Yokohama Geolandar X-AT tires, and a NISMO cat-back exhaust. Of course, this is all topped off by Forsberg Racing decals and a Forsberg Racing Limited Edition badge.

The catch is that Nissan is charging $9,999 for the package. Sure, the company says it can be applied on any Frontier as long as it’s a crew cab configuration — but that’s still a pretty hefty price tag, one that sits at about one-third of the cost of a base-model Frontier.

This means you can get an off-road truck on the cheap. If dealer pricing holds up, you can pick up a basic 2024 Frontier Crew Cab S 4×4 for $35,840 (including destination). Throw on the Forsberg package and you have a decently capable off-road pickup for under $50,000. Nissan is planning to officially debut the Frontier Forsberg Edition at the Chicago Auto Show.
