Meet Gallagher’s new Canadian leadership team

Gallagher Global Brokerage – Canada CEO Dave Partington has taken on the additional responsibility of leading the Gallagher businesses in Latin America and the Caribbean, the brokerage tells Canadian Underwriter.

Partington will continue to lead all three regions, with the implementation of several new leadership changes for Canada effective July 1.

The additional roles for Partington “reflects Gallagher’s commitment to further strengthen its presence in these regions and capitalize on the immense growth opportunities they offer,” the brokerage says.

“Under Dave’s leadership, Gallagher has achieved remarkable success in Canada, solidifying its position as a market leader and driving unprecedented growth. With Dave’s expanded role, he will now bring his exceptional expertise, strategic acumen, and passion for excellence to Latin America and the Caribbean.”

Tyler Averill will be appointed president, Canada Retail Insurance.

Tyler Averill will be appointed president, Canada Retail Insurance, where he will be responsible for the overall management of the retail brokerage operations across the country. Averill joined Gallagher in 2012 as part of the Noraxis acquisition and has been an integral part of Gallagher’s success in Canada over the past five years as part of the leadership team under Partington, Gallagher says. “We are confident in Tyler’s ability to continue driving growth and delivering exceptional results.”

Mike Thornhill

Mike Thornhill will continue to lead Gallagher’s Caribbean business operations and will take on the additional role of president of specialty.

“Mike has done an exceptional job of leading the Caribbean and prior to that, overseeing Atlantic Canada sales and operations,” Gallagher says. “With his deep understanding of Canada, coupled with his strategic mindset, Mike will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success of Gallagher’s growth.”

Kevin Neiles

Kevin Neiles will be retiring from Gallagher at the end of 2024.

Kevin Neiles will be retiring from Gallagher at the end of 2024. Neiles has been a member of Gallagher’s senior leadership team since joining the brokerage in 2014. “Kevin’s energy, expertise, and passion for Gallagher are unmatched,” the brokerage says. “We are sad for Kevin to leave us, however, thrilled for him to enter into this new chapter.”

Ilan Serman

Ilan Serman will be stepping into the chief markets role and taking over from Kevin Neiles.

Stepping into the chief markets role and taking over from Neiles is Ilan Serman. Serman will be working with both the retail and specialty businesses. He joined Gallagher in 2021 as the regional president for Ontario.

“He’s worked in our industry for 25+ years and brings with him many relationships, so much knowledge and a lot of respect from his peers and colleagues,” Gallagher says.

Over the next few months, Serman and Neiles will be working together closely on the transition.
