Mary Boyd appointed Hiscox USA CEO
International specialty insurer Hiscox has announced that Mary Boyd will become the company’s USA chief executive officer on June 24, replacing Kevin Kerridge, who is stepping down after holding the position for almost 30 years.
Previously, Boyd served as president & CEO of Plymouth Rock Assurance Corporation, where she has overseen its independent agency business since 2018 and been a primary leader of the company’s digital transformation, focusing on its $1 billion independent agency auto, Pilgrim Services and umbrella liability businesses. She held several actuarial roles early in her insurance career and worked at The Hartford, Explorer Insurance and Chubb.
In a statement, Aki Hussain, Hiscox Group CEO said, “Mary’s knowledge and expertise in the insurance industry are exceptional, and I am delighted to be welcoming her to the Hiscox business. Her wealth of experience building and leading insurance businesses in the USA, and her deep understanding of the U.S. customer market, will be instrumental in scaling our U.S. business as we seize the opportunity ahead.”
Boyd will be speaking at Digital Insurance’s Women in Insurance Leadership Conference in Boca Raton, Florida on June 26 on how to successfully lead through both good and bad times. In 2023, Boyd was a Women in Insurance Leadership honoree. She will also be sharing her leadership insights as part of a visionary and leaders panel at the DigIn Conference on June 27 at the Boca Raton Resort.
“I am thrilled to join Hiscox and lead this talented team to its next series of successes,” shared Boyd in a written statement. “Aki has communicated a clear strategic vision to serve the insurance needs of small business owners across the U.S., reinforced by a consistent commitment to our partners and continued investment in technology capabilities. I am energized by the opportunity to work alongside our team to drive innovation and profitable growth in this market.”
