Grammy-nominated Cleveland, Ohio native Colson Baker, professionally known as Machine Gun Kelly, spent the weekend in Brazil for the Formula 1 race at Interlagos. As has happened many times in the past, Sky Sports host Martin Brundle attempted to awkwardly stumble his way through an interview with celebrities on the grid and zeroed in on MGK. The pop punk rap artist weathered the storm better than most, turning the tables on Brundle and putting him in the awkward spotlight.

After stumbling through some pleasantries which Baker couldn’t really hear, the interview touches on MGK’s music career, what he thinks about F1, and working in a studio next to F1 champ Lewis Hamilton. The artist then turned the tables on Brundle and asked him what he thought of the music industry, and pushed him to do an air guitar or air piano duet with him. When Brundle refused to play along and walked away, MGK gave a thumbs down gesture to the camera.

It’s funny that Brundle expects celebs to stand on ceremony and dance when he plays the proverbial music, but won’t play along when the same is asked of him. The racer-turned-presenter famously came under scrutiny for asking Megan Thee Stallion if she “had a little rap for us today on Formula 1” at the U.S. Grand Prix in 2021. Brundle is happy to dish it out, but he’s not at all pleased to take it.

Following the Grand Prix, Brundle then went to Twitter to post a somewhat self-deprecating reference to the Megan incident. This is a far cry from his immediate reaction in 2021, when he demanded that people on the grid walk “learn some manners and respect on our patch.”

Brundle did follow the MGK interview with this very funny (and equally awkward) comment to Bernie Ecclestone regarding his recent legal troubles, so maybe that makes up for it?
