Lyft, Mobilitas expand ride-share coverage for drivers to 23 states

Lyft announced its new partnership with Mobilitas, a wholly owned subsidiary of CSAA Insurance Group and group of insurance companies offering coverage and digital solutions to the mobility market, to expand its offerings of commercial ride-sharing coverage plans.

“Mobilitas is dedicated to the digital delivery of modern commercial insurance products for the shared economy and evolving mobility industry, and our best-in-class digital integrations and APIs allow for automation, flexibility and efficiency,” Julie Brown, General Manager of the Mobilitas companies writes to Digital Insurance. “By providing insurance that’s simple, collaborative, and creative, we offer our customers scalable and tailored solutions that help meet their needs in an era of rapidly expanding technology.

The collaboration narrows coverage gaps for professional Lyft drivers, who may lack commercial-grade ride-share insurance that protects both drivers and passengers, regardless if they are working. The partnership expands Lyft’s coverage territory from its previous 18 states to a total of 23 states. Through Mobilitas, Lyft offers its users several streamlined digital solutions, including Mobilitas’ claims expertise and guidance for the rideshare, food delivery, and package delivery markets available in 43 states.

“As our business continues to grow and evolve, we are committed to implementing cutting-edge risk management solutions that address our mobility needs,” said Curtis Scott, vice president of Customer Platform at Lyft, in a statement. “Mobilitas delivers innovative solutions and reliable claims handling specifically designed for our rideshare and delivery business lines.”

Mobilitas covers Lyft drivers and their passengers through its policy offering, whether they are actively working and driving for Lyft or even if they are driving off the clock. Coverage is also custom-built for last-mile delivery fleet owners, and Mobilitas is growing its products in other mobility markets, such as in autonomous vehicles.

“Mobilitas provides industry-leading claims handling excellence and productivity that balances speed and accuracy without sacrificing quality or service,” writes Brown. “Our commercial insurance professionals understand the importance of protecting business by quickly getting vehicles back on route, and our custom claims expertise protects Lyft’s growing and critical business needs to ensure accountability, oversight, and management throughout the claims process.”

Users can sign up and manage their policies through the Mobilitas mobile app, or receive a quote and Mobilitas policy through the Lyft Driver app. Also included in the Mobilitas coverage offerings is Lyft’s Flexdrive program – this partnership program, available in 19 states, allows users to select from several flexible pricing options from Flexdrive, which include standard auto maintenance, roadside assistance, and other insurance products.
