Lord, Give Me The Confidence Of This Person Selling A Fisker Ocean With A Gat-Dang Reserve

When it first went into production, we really wanted the Fisker Ocean to be as successful as it was cool, but unfortunately the startup automaker recently announced that bankruptcy was basically inevitable without a bailout, and that appears unlikely to happen. It slashed prices on old inventory, and the automotive world generally accepted that Fisker would go out of business, and that the cars would be worth next to nothing if people tried to sell them. That is, except for one fearless owner who just listed their 2023 Fisker Ocean Extreme on Cars & Bids with a gat-dang reserve.

Out of all the cars that you could be trying to sell right now, it’s hard to think of a worse one than the Fisker Ocean. Most people don’t even know that Fisker is a car company, much less anything about the Ocean. And those who know about the Ocean well enough to want one are also probably also well-informed enough to know about all the problems that Fisker’s been having, so your pool of potential buyers is much more limited than it was even a couple of months ago. You would think owners would either keep their Oceans until they became too difficult to keep on the road, or accept that selling their car would mean taking pennies on the dollar.

Not the seller of this particular Fisker Ocean, though. They know what they’ve got, and they’re not letting it go for any less than they know it’s worth regardless of whether Fisker is possibly days away from disappearing forever. What’s even more shocking, though, is that with six days left at the time of writing, bidding is already up to $28,882. That’s still a far cry from the Ocean Extreme’s $65,000 MSRP, but it’s also far more than we’d be willing to pay for a used Fisker right now.

And remember, that’s with six days left on the auction. We still don’t know how high the reserve is and whether bidding will stall around $30,000 or keep climbing. Regardless, this seller did what we would have told them was one of the dumbest things imaginable, and it’s actually sort of working out for them. They believed they could do it, and now they’re making it happen. At this point, we just want to know how to get even an ounce of their confidence, because something tells us it would be life-changing.
