Land Rover Says 24-Inch Wheels Are Too Much

You don’t exactly buy a Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV because you’re looking to be subtle. It may not be quite as in-your-face as the Lamborghini Urus, but with a 626 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque turbocharged V8 under the hood, it can hit 60 mph in less than four seconds, and everyone’s going to hear it from that exhaust. It also comes with massive 23-inch wheels, but as CarThrottle reports, Land Rover insists that’s as big as its wheels are going to go.

Speaking to CarThrottle, Jaguar Land Rover’s head of SV, Jamal Hameedi, said 24-inch wheels would simply be too big. “You wouldn’t want to go much bigger than that [23 inches],” he said. “I don’t see many 24-inch wheels. Twenty-three seems to be about the limit,” before adding, “I’ll say that and someone will come out with a 24.”

So if 23 inches just isn’t enough for you, and you think you need another inch or two to truly be satisfied, you’re going to have to shop elsewhere. Unfortunately for those of you who need something bigger, there aren’t exactly many options, at least from an automaker. The Chevrolet Silverado EV will offer 24-inch wheels, but is being able to brag to your friends that you’re bigger than they are in the wheel department actually going to be worth it if it means buying a Chevy? It’s not even a luxury truck!

Apparently, though, despite only offering the Range Rover Sport SV with 23-inch wheels, customers are paying up for the carbon fiber version. “We are building the carbon wheels as fast as we can,” Hameedi told Car Throttle. “It’s been off the chart.”
