Jones DesLauriers appoints new complex risk leader

Jones DesLauriers, Imran Pira

Navacord brokerage Jones DesLauriers Insurance Management Inc. has appointed Imran Pira as managing partner, head of complex risk.

The appointment coincides with the launch of Jone DesLauriers’ complex risk division, which Pira will lead, effective Aug. 19.

Prior to this role, Pira was NFP’s senior vice president and head of management, cyber and professional lines. Before that, he held roles at Willis Towers Watson, Axis Canada and Marsh, in both brokering and underwriting.

“We are thrilled to welcome Imran to the team at JD,” president and CEO Scott Irwin said in a press release. “His proven track record and established industry knowledge will prove invaluable as we launch our Complex Risk division, and we are confident his skillset will play a key role in fostering our ability to serve intricate risk management needs.”

The appointment also works to “expand and enhance” Jones DesLauriers’ downtown Toronto location, and its overarching growth strategy by hiring more talent and expanding capabilities, the release said.

The brokerage provides coverage across the transportation, hospitality, construction, real estate, and forestry sectors, having placed more than $750 million in premiums, across 350 insurance professionals.
