American singer-songwriter Jon Bon Jovi and a member of the crew from a video shoot he was working on talked a woman away from the ledge of a bridge earlier this week. The New Jersey singer was shooting a video in Nashville on Tuesday when he spotted a woman over the safety rail on the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge.

At the time of the shoot, the bridge he was filming on remained open to pedestrians to cross the Cumberland River, reports AP News. However, while filming, Bon Jovi and a production assistant on his crew saw a woman across the bridge’s safety barrier:

Video that was posted to YouTube but later removed showed the assistant talking to the woman. The Grammy-winning front man slowly approached, waved to the woman and joined in the conversation.

Eventually the woman turned around to face the two, and they helped her over the railing to safety. Bon Jovi talked to the woman and hugged her.

Bon Jovi has not and, according to his publicist, will not commented on the incident and the woman involved has not been identified by authorities. The singer has a history helping people out of crisis, though, reports local news outlet the Tennessean, which adds that Bon Jovi and his wife, Dorothea, founded the JBJ Soul Foundation charity.

The local news outlet also reports that the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in downtown Nashville got its name from a very similar incident on the bridge. As the Tennessean reports:

In 2014, the bridge was named after the legendary Tennessean editor John Seigenthaler, who prevented a man from jumping off the bridge in the 1950s.
