Mr. Waldron was the former co-owner of the Noyes Insurance Agency

Longtime Chelmsford resident, William J. “Bill” Waldron, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 8, 2022. Married for 64 years to the late Barbara Joan Waldron, the couple raised three children: Jim, Lynne, and Joan, all who still live in the region.

William J. “Bill” Waldron

Born in late May, 1929, William grew up in Hartford, CT. Tall, very tall, and later, even taller the family moved to nearby Windsor. Basketball and golf were his passions, and he was a respected player in both sports.

The loving sons of the late William and Evelyn Waldron, Bill and his brother Robert, along with a rich collection of local friends, created untold havoc in the neighborhood and surrounding towns. Bill finished his high-school years at Suffield Academy, and completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Connecticut.

Based in Germany during the Korean War, William served with the Army 66th Counterintelligence Corp. A member of the military service’s basketball team, he had the good fortune to travel extensively in Europe. Bill was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1954, and returned to the States.

Soon married to Barbara, the couple moved to Chelmsford in 1960, raised their kids, and lived a fulfilling life. Skiing entered Bill’s world around 1967. Learning with his children at the many local hills, William carted the whole neighborhood on frequent trips to King Ridge in New Hampshire. It was always entertaining to watch six-foot-six Bill trying gallantly to pair up with his tiny kids on a T-bar. His ankles were bruised every weekend.

Waldron spent his entire career in the insurance industry as an agent, then executive, and finally retiring in 1996 as a co-owner of the Noyes Insurance Agency in Shirley, MA. Friendships he formed in business continued through the end of his life.

In addition to his immediate family, Grampy Waldron was loved, and will be missed, by his four grandchildren Ben, Max, Alex, and Paige.

Funeral Service and Interment will be held privately. A celebratory gathering for Bill will be held on Sunday, August 21. In lieu of sending flowers, Bill wished you would instead buy yourself a beer, and watch some college games on his behalf.
