Hyundai Will Let You Buy An All-Wheel-Drive Sonata For Just $30,000
Don’t count sedans out just yet. Hyundai is the latest automaker that’s showing it’s not throwing in the towel on the segment. The automaker redesigned its striking Sonata sedan for 2024 and now we finally know how much it’ll cost. Including a $1,115 destination charge, the 2024 Sonata starts at just $28,615, $2,050 more than the outgoing model.
Behold the Splendor of the Hyundai Grandeur
The reason for the sudden price spike is because Hyundai has gotten rid of the base SE trim for 2024, leaving the SEL as the entry into the lineup. For the aforementioned $28,615 you get standard features like a 192-horsepower 2.5-liter inline-4, LED projector headlights, a suite of driver safety aids and a 12.3-inch touchscreen.
If you want all-wheel drive, which is new for the Sonata, it’s just $1,500 more than the front-drive SEL for a total of $30,115. The SEL Convenience, which gets you a bit more standard features and options like a sunroof and leather seating, starts at $31,665.

From there the price jumps a bit dramatically to the Sonata N-Line, the performance model in the lineup. The Sonata N-Line starts at $36,065, which gets you a turbocharged version of the 2.5-liter inline-4 with 290 HP, an 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, more aggressive bumper designs, quad exhaust tips, 19-inch wheels and sports seats.
Then there are the hybrid trims: the $31,915 Hybrid SEL and the range-topping $38,315 Sonata Hybrid Limited. These have a 2.0-liter four-cylinder paired with a 6-speed auto and an electric motor.

In addition to new features like a power trunk on the Hybrid Limited and an available curved panoramic display that combines two 12.3-inch screens together, there’s also standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on all trims, a transmission selector that’s moved to the steering column, over-the-air update capability and a redesigned dual automatic climate control system with soft touch controls and a digital display. We love to see actual buttons in car interiors.
The 2024 Sonata is set to go on sale in Q1 2024, so figure another month or two before they reach dealer lots.
