According to a study by Comparethemarket.com, this Christmas there could be 18,540 burglaries during December, costing the UK £7.8M in lost Christmas presents!
Each year we remind our clients to take extra precautions:
Lock your doors and windows – and double check them every time you go out or go to bed. Bring in that spare front door key – seasoned burglars will know where to look for it.Don’t make it obvious you aren’t there. Leave on lights or use a timer, ask a neighbour to bring in your bin and invite them to park on your drive.Avoid putting your Christmas tree and gifts in front of a window. To a burglar, that’s like loot window shopping. Treat your social media like a window – don’t advertise what you have bought, or the fact that you are away. Make sure your buildings and contents insurance is current – contact your local A-Plan branch to ensure you are still adequately covered – underinsurance is a growing problem. Photographs and receipts are very useful in the event of a claim. Ring’s smart security solutions can be a great deterrent!
