Honda looks like it’s finally primed to get serious about electric vehicles. The Japanese automaker is planning to announce it will introduce 30 new EVs across the globe by 2030 with a goal of selling 2 million units per year.

The official announcement will come next year on Tuesday, January 9 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas where Honda says it’ll lay out an “aggressive timeline” of EV introductions leading up to the end of the decade. Going beyond that, the automaker says it plans to only be selling zero-emission vehicles by 2040. That includes traditional battery electric vehicles and fuel cell-powered models.

At CES, Honda says it plans to showcase “the global EV series models and several key technologies that illustrate the significant transformation Honda is currently undergoing.” Those are so lofty goals from an automaker that has been a bit, well, behind on the adoption of electric vehicles. Right now, Honda doesn’t sell any EVs in the United States. Its upcoming EVs, the Prologue and Acura ZDX, are based on GM’s Ultium architecture. At this point, it’s unclear how many of these 30 new EVs will be on Honda’s own platform, or how many are going to end up coming to the U.S.

Honda’s Global CEO Toshihiro Mibe and Global Executive Vice President Shinji Aoyama will apparently be speaking about Honda’s electrified future and the future of the automotive landscape as a whole.

As with all press releases, we’ve got some really good marketing speak about the brand’s slogan and identity:

Honda is transforming its business operations to align with the new Global Brand Slogan: “The Power of Dreams – How we move you.” This slogan illustrates how Honda will create mobility products and services which enable people to “transcend various constraints such as time and place,” and to “augment their abilities and possibilities.” With such mobility products and services, Honda will support the realization of dreams for more people and become the driving force that moves society forward.

That’s just beautiful, isn’t it?

If you find yourself at CES this year and want to see Honda’s announcement in person, it’ll be on January 9 at 10:30 a.m. PST at Honda’s booth in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
