Golden Jubilee Golf Tournament Celebrates Jacinta Whyte’s 50 Years of Industry Excellence While Driving Funds for Medical Research

OAKVILLE, ON, JUNE 13, 2024/insPRESS/ – As the 50th anniversary of her career in the insurance industry approached, Jacinta Whyte received congratulatory messages from a host of Ecclesiastical Insurance colleagues, business partners and customers, with many enthusiastically suggesting a gala or other such celebratory event. While deeply touched, Whyte chose to celebrate her career and the many opportunities it had afforded her by helping others realize their own milestones and dreams.

To commemorate Whyte’s achievements and her commitment to ‘always give back’, Ecclesiastical Insurance, which is proudly part of The Benefact Group, was the event sponsor for a special Golden Jubilee Charity Golf Tournament which took place on June 4th at the world-famous Glen Abbey Golf Club, with over 120 attendees from the insurance industry taking part. The event was hosted by the Canadian Osteogenesis Imperfecta Society (COIS), of which Whyte is President and Chair, with the aim of raising funds for the Dr Francis Glorieux Fellowship for Medical Research, an integral part of COIS’s mandate. Most people have never heard of Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), a rare genetic disorder sometimes called Brittle Bone Disease. Individuals born with OI face many potential medical issues, including bone deformity, short stature, pulmonary problems, and multiple bone fractures throughout their lifetime. Dr. Glorieux’s ground-breaking research into the treatment and care of OI patients is world renowned and has been especially important to Whyte’s family as her youngest daughter was born with OI.

At the tournament’s close, and having met the fundraising goal, Whyte expressed her heartfelt thanks to the many individual golfers, sponsors and corporations for their participation, emphasizing that “your outstanding generosity will provide an opportunity for medical researchers to take Dr. Glorieux’s legacy forward and, like him, make significant and far-reaching contributions to the OI family and to the individuals whose lives are all too often restricted by this disease.” She added a special thank-you to Colin Robertson, Ecclesiastical’s Chief Risk Management and Customer Officer: “As an avid golfer, your knowledge and efforts to make this event a resounding success were invaluable and very much appreciated.”
