Find Cheap Hydration At An Airport Near You

Airports are an expensive place to hang out — I’ve spent enough time in them to know. After you pay for your ticket, though, the most expensive things are the ones that shouldn’t cost much at all: Burgers, drinks, and little bags of Chex Mix.

Luckily, CitronC is here to help. They’ve figured out a way around those pesky price gouging kiosks, a method to stay fed and hydrated on the go without breaking the bank: Just drink alcohol.

This post had multiple comments complaining about the price of water, and I have to ask: Why are you all buying water in the airport? It’s free on the plane, in the little cups that you can instantly down and get a refill on before the flight attendant even leaves your row. Don’t worry about the water quality. If you die of water, you can sue RyanAir for all it’s worth.

Maybe the ideal approach, all things considered, is a mix of methods. Grab something high-proof from the duty-free shop, but don’t rely on it as your sole source of hydration — instead, use its alcohol as a disinfectant to chase down that questionably safe but gloriously free plane water. Sure, they say that FAA regulations prohibit you from drinking any liquor you brought on board, but is Spirit truly paying anyone on this plane enough to stop you?

Congratulations, CitronC, on your Comment Of The Day win. I’ll be sure to put your genius lifehack into action the next time I’m stuck in an airport overnight, which with my travel luck will be the next time I enter an airport. I’ll walk in to renew my passport at the Global Entry booth, and they’ll lock the doors behind me.
