Douglas County Treasurer/State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Service Changes

LINCOLN – Douglas County Treasurer and State DMV Driver Licensing customers will notice some changes the next time they visit the office at 2910 N. 108th St. in Omaha. Beginning April 12th, services such as titling and registering a vehicle, or paying property taxes will be processed at the new Douglas County Treasurer’s office located at 15335 W. Maple Road at the Douglas County West Omaha Campus. The location at 2910 N. 108th St. will become a dedicated driver licensing office for individuals needing to obtain or renew their driver’s license, or state identification card. Driver licensing services will not be provided at 15335 W. Maple Road.

The Douglas County Treasurer’s Office is excited to be moving to its newest facility,” said Douglas County Treasurer John Ewing. “We believe by separating the registering of vehicles and driver’s license services, customers will receive faster, more efficient service. Customers registering vehicles will no longer be in line with customers paying for DMV services and DMV customers will no longer receive services from the state and then come to the Treasurer’s side to pay.”

Previously customers had to complete the driver licensing process with state driver’s license examiners before paying for their credentials at the County Treasurer’s Office. The entire process will now be completed by state driver license examiners. This equates to less time spent at the office and a more efficient system for customers.

“This change represents the next phase in the transformation of driver licensing services in the Omaha metro area,” said Rhonda K. Lahm, Director the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles. “Implementing more convenient services for our customers is our priority. The DMV will also be opening a new driver licensing service center in west Omaha in 2020. I would like to extend my thanks to the staff at the Douglas County Treasurer’s office who have been exemplary partners for many years and look forward to continuing our partnership in the future.”
