Deus Vayanne Is an EV Hypercar with a Claimed 2200 HP

The Deus Vayanne is a new electric hypercar promising 2200 horsepower and 1475 pound-feet of torque. The Austria-based company claims the Vayanne will be able to hit 62 mph in under two seconds and will achieve a top speed of 248 mph.Deus says deliveries will begin in 2025 and only 99 units of the Vayanne will be built.

Yet another electric startup is bursting onto the scene, but this one arrives with some storied names attached. Austria-based Deus Automobiles has unveiled its first vehicle, the electric Vayanne hypercar, at the 2022 New York auto show. Deus has partnered with Italdesign, the design firm founded by Giorgetto Giugiaro, and Williams Advanced Engineering, an offshoot of the eponymous Formula 1 team, to create the Vayanne, which is due to reach customers in 2025.

Deus calls the Vayanne a “production-oriented concept,” and the company is touting some seriously bonkers performance numbers (along with the footnote that they are “computer-simulated performance, not validated”). No specifics were provided about the number or orientation of the electric motors, but Deus claims the Vayanne produces 2200 horsepower and 1475 pound-feet of torque. Deus says this will propel the Vayanne to 62 mph in less than 1.99 seconds and on to a 248-mph top speed. It’s not yet clear how involved Williams Advanced Engineering has been on the development of the Vayanne’s powertrain, and we will take these claims with a large pile of salt.

The design is pretty, if a bit derivative. Deus says the shape of the front and rear grilles is inspired by an infinity loop, but we see hints of Bugatti Chiron and Lotus Evija instead. The Vayanne takes on traditional mid-engined supercar proportions and is decorated with numerous scoops and vents. Inside, Deus says the natural leather is produced using “sustainable, technologically advanced solutions” but failed to specify what these processes are. Deus says just 99 units of the Vayanne will be built, and the startup is targeting 2025 to begin deliveries. We wouldn’t suggest holding your breath.
