Couple Driving To Therapy Session No Longer Needs It After Woman Hits Boyfriend With Car

Sometimes, it can be hard to know when to break up. Maybe things aren’t great overall, but you’ve settled into a rhythm, and it’s mostly fine on a day-to-day basis. Maybe you both live in an apartment that neither one of you could afford on your own. Maybe they’ve worn you down so much over the years that you feel like you can’t. Sometimes, though, the universe sends you a sign. Like when your girlfriend hits you with her car on the way to couples therapy.

FergusNow reports that just before 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Veronica Roleen Gast was driving to couples therapy with her boyfriend. They had reportedly been arguing for most of the day, but that’s what therapy’s for, right? Well, apparently, they kept arguing on the ride over, and at some point, he told her he thought they should just break up and asked her to take him home.

Instead of doing that, Gast stopped the car and ordered him out. Reportedly planning to walk home, the unnamed victim walked in front of the car toward the sidewalk. He later told police that’s when Gast made eye contact with him “like you would with a bus driver” and “floored” it, hitting him with her car. He was thrown onto the hood and shattered the windshield with his back.

His back is probably messed up, and he reportedly cut his right arm, but the good news is, his injuries were relatively minor. If she’d been driving something with a taller hood, this situation could have ended very differently.

Gast told police she wasn’t paying much attention at the time and just wanted to go home. She admitted to hitting the victim with her car but claimed she didn’t make eye contact with him and also said the windshield only cracked because he punched it after she hit him. She has since been arrested and is currently facing a second-degree assault charge, as well as several more minor charges.

It’s honestly a little surprising that she was actually arrested. Usually, if you tell the cops you didn’t see someone before hitting them with their car, they chalk it up as an accident and move on. There’s a reason, “If you want to kill someone, do it in a car,” is a common saying. Thankfully, Fergus cops took this situation seriously because, well, killing people is wrong, and you shouldn’t be allowed to get away with it just because you’re driving.
