Lego has always been a favorite of the automotive community. It allows those of us that are creative to literally build the stuff of dreams, from working engines to full cars made out of the bricks. Since 2008, the company has continuously released special edition kits of iconic vehicles under its Lego Icons brand. That tradition continues with Lego Icons’ latest release: the Lamborghini Countach LP5000 Quattrovalvole.

The LP5000 Quattrovalvole was an updated version of the Countach that Lamborghini launched in 1985, and its specialness is all in the name. The 5000 referred to the increased size of the V12, which was bored up to 5.2 liters, or 5,167 cc, and Quattro Valvole referred to the four valves per cylinder that the engine received as well. Other changes to the 5000 included moving the engine’s carburetors from the sides to the top, which required a taller engine cover that pretty much killed reward visibility, and new kevlar widebody panels that are one of the most ‘80s things ever.

Lego Icons recreates the 5000 Quattrovalvole in pretty fantastic detail. Outside, there’s the Countach’s distinctive deep-dish wheels, triangular rear wing and large tail lights. It also has a fully detailed interior, working steering, and best of all, scissor doors that actually open upward.
If you’re wanting to pick one of these sets up, whether it be for yourself or as a promised purchase for your dad as a Father’s Day gift, it’ll be available to order by Lego Insiders first on July 1st before fully releasing for everyone else on Independence Day. I’ll definitely be fighting my son over this thing.
