2024 VinFast VF6

Overview

The VinFast VF6 is the smallest vehicle from the Vietnam-based automaker. Roughly the size of the Kia Niro EV, the battery-electric VF6’s striking V-shaped LED “eyebrows” and array of bright exterior hues hope to liven up the compact electric SUV segment. Offered exclusively with a single electric motor that drives the front wheels, the VF6 produces a claimed 174 horsepower in base Eco mode. Opt for the Plus model and its larger capacity battery pack and the VF6’s output jumps to 201 horsepower. VinFast is still hush-hush about details on charge time and maximum driving range. That said, if the larger VF8 and VF9 electric SUVs are any indication, then it’s possible the VF6 will travel up to 230 miles on a full charge.

The VinFast VF6 is completely new. It’s expected to go into production toward the end of 2023.

Given the limited information currently available, we cannot provide a trim recommendation for the VF6. Nonetheless, the small VinFast SUV promises to shake up the traditional EV ownership experience. Like VinFasts other models, the VF6 is expected to offer buyers the option of a monthly battery subscription that’s separate from the model’s base price.

EV Motor, Power, and Performance

Every VF6 is due to use a single electric motor that powers the front wheels. VinFast claims the base Eco model’s motor will produce 174 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The pricier Plus trim, meanwhile, packs 201 horsepower and 228 pound-feet of torque. Details related to the VF6’s battery capacity and general performance remain under wraps.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The VF6 that debuted at the 2022 Los Angeles auto show featured a tastefully designed interior with copper-colored trim and door handles that were complemented by perforated faux leather. We presume this vehicle represents the VF6 in its fanciest form and are curious to see what the insides of a base model look like. Like other vehicles in the segment, the VF6 packs seating for five.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The VF6 features a lone center-mounted touchscreen display reminiscent of the setup in the Tesla Model 3and Model Y. Unlike those Tesla models, though, the VF6 complements its big infotainment screen with a head-up display that projects pertinent information directly in the driver’s line of sight. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available, while a voice-activated navigation system comes standard.
