2024 Kia EV9: What Do You Want To Know?
At long last, we are about to get behind the wheel of the all-new 2024 Kia EV9 for the first time. Sure, we first saw the car a year ago in March of 2023, and sure, it’s already on sale, and sure it’s already getting discounts in some places, but hey — what can you do? Anyway, before we get behind the wheel of this three-row electric beast, we want to know what you want to know about it.
The Kia Amanti Was Basically a Knock-Off Mercedes
Before you start clicking away and asking questions, let’s get a few things we know about the crossover out of the way first. We know how much it’ll cost. A base model EV9 will start at just over $56,000, and you can load it all the way up to over $75,000 — including about $1,500 for destination That’s a lot of cash, but the EV9 looks to be a lot of car. There are five trims to choose from: Light RWD, Light Long Range RWD, Wind e-AWD, Land e-AWD and the top of the heap GT-Line e-AWD.
The base model Light RWD gets you a single motor, a 76.1 kWh battery pack, 215 horsepower and 230 miles of range. The Light Long Range RWD means you trade away 14 horsepower, but you get a 99.8-kWh battery pack and 300 miles of range If you want all-wheel-drive, you’ll have to spring for the Wind e-AWD. You get a dual motor setup, increased ground clearance, 379 horsepower, 443 lb-ft of torque and 280 miles of range The Land e-AWD has a similar setup but with more interior niceties. Finally, the EV9 GT-lIne AWD gives you the same horsepower — 379, but the torque is bumped to 516 lb-ft, and you still get 270 miles of range Not too shabby.
No matter what EV9 you go for, they’ll have the same technology and standard features — including over 24 inches of screens, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless charging, digital key compatibility, and DC fast charging. That last bit supports 800V, and Kia says the EV9 can charge from 10 to 80 percent in under 25 minutes.
Inside, if you’ve seen any of Kia/Hyundai’s other EV offerings, you’ll be right at home. It looks like a fairly comfy and minimalist place to sit. I imagine it’ll be pretty sweet. On the outside, you’ve got those classic SUV body proportions that are starting to make their way back into crossovers. It’s a welcome sight, even if the EV9 looks a little derivative.
Anyway, that’s just about all I got for the 2024 EV9. Drop down below and let me know what you want to know about it.
